Day 38 (Part 3- Day 1) Cape Girardeau, MO → Willard, IL

37 Miles Today, 1020 Miles Total!

Oh hey, Missouri! And welcome back, Brent, to the Salty Walrus team! This is the official kickoff to Salty's Mississippi Movement Part 3!

Brent spent the first 3 days on the River with Ian, paddling from Itasca State Park to Lake Bemidji. The guys are excited to get back on the water, making their way toward Memphis, TN. The local news station, KFVS 12, even made their way out to wish us luck!

Of course, we're still doing this to raise awareness for the Movember Foundation and mens health!

Did you know, June is Men's Health Awareness Month?! Most people don't know about it, or they don't think it's important enough to talk about. We're here to break that silence!

Men's health is important. Men are important. You are important. Thank you for being here

The start of Part 3 brought lots of excitement! The day started off with a news station interview. KFVS12 and the locals here were so wonderful and supportive! (Visit their facebook page or website to check out the video interview!)

UPDATE: The guys are getting used to sharing the river with the large barges, but at least there are no more lock & dam systems! After a full day of paddling, the guys spent their first night camped on the river bank. Sorry Brent, no designated campsites this round.

And...

The Salty Walrus has officially seen over 1000 miles of the Mighty Mississippi! The weather was calm and the current was steady. Overall, a beautiful day spent on the River.
