64 (Part 3 - Day 27) Pikes Peak, LA → Westwego, LA

55 miles today, 2209 miles total!

Today was a nail-biter! Ian, Troy, and Brandon were met with another day filled with a ton of industrial traffic. They even received a phone call from the Coast Guard for being a bit too close to the channel. It's tricky finding the sweet spot- moving around the barges that are parked along the shores, but also not getting sucked into the current of the channel created by the active large vessels, all while avoiding the tug boats who are moving back and forth! On top of the traffic, they saw their first alligator today!

In general, the water was a little slow today, at average speed, only around 5 mph! The wind did pick up later in the day, landing the guys just north of New Orleans for the night. They found a nice little camp site just north of the French Quarter.

Tomorrow is an exciting day as they'll hit the under 100-mile mark! The guys are going to need some luck as they'll be facing even bigger vessels the remainder of the journey!
