Day 66

August 5, 2025

Pointe à la Hache, LA

Head of Passes, Mississippi River

Ian, Troy, and Brandon made it—from the headwaters at Lake Itasca to the saltwater of the Gulf of Mexico!

The final day brought incredible weather, beautiful scenery, and one unforgettable adventure. They paddled past a peregrine falcon nest, received some very vocal warnings from Mom, and made a quick stop in Venice, LA, where Katie helped unload gear before they tackled the final 10 miles.

As the current slowed, the River became calm and crystal clear—reminiscent of its beginning. With about 6 miles to go, a passing freighter called them on the marine radio with words of encouragement that brought the guys to tears as the reality of what they had accomplished began to sink in.

Then came the moment they had been working toward: the 0-mile marker—the Head of Passes. Brandon climbed the tower and signed their names in the legendary journal.

Captain Triston met them at the buoy and helped transport the guys, their gear, and both canoes back to Venice Marina.

They did it! 2,300+ miles, countless memories, and an incredible journey down the Mississippi River.

Katie and Monster met them at the docks for celebratory drinks and appetizers before everyone headed their separate ways.

It was an unbelievable day filled with adventure, exhaustion, pride, and more emotion than words can describe.

From Lake Itasca to the Gulf—mission accomplished.
